At Sound Speech Therapy, we specialize in the treatment of speech disorders, language disorders, and early reading skills. We believe that children are willing to take risks through communication when they feel safe and motivated, so we take time to form strong relationships and bring their interests into therapy. Our play-based therapy approach makes learning fun, and we are committed to training parents to help new skills stick. Let’s work together to help your child grow!
MELISSA TABERSKI, M.S., CCC-SLP
I am a speech therapist with over 16 years of experience serving children with communication support needs. I earned my master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Penn State University, and since then, I have worked in a variety of settings, including different public and non-public school settings as well as private practice.
Throughout my career, I have become passionate about treating complex communication needs through a family-centered approach. I opened Sound Speech Therapy so that I could partner with families and make quicker, more meaningful progress toward communication goals. While I am an expert in speech and language development, I recognize that parents are the experts on their child. I value the input that parents can provide, and I love working on goals that are important to the whole family.
My therapy style is highly personalized for each individual child that I work with, as I know that no two children are the same. I value connection over compliance. I am committed to incorporating my clients’ interests into sessions and to making therapy fun! I take the time to build a solid relationship with each child and family before expecting hard work and progress because trust is an essential piece of the therapeutic process.
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, exploring, and playing games with my wonderful husband and 10-year-old twins. I also love reading, cooking, trying new restaurants in the city, and attending Broadway shows!

Meet Melissa
CLINIC-BASED
We provide therapy services to families based in the Pittsford or Rochester area in our clinic. Our office is filled with child-friendly activities. Whether jumping on a mini-trampoline, reading books, or playing a game, we build skills while having fun.
Location
TELETHERAPY
We offer online speech therapy services to families located in New York, New Hampshire, and Maine. Teletherapy is convenient, engaging, and effective for most children, and it allows caregivers to observe and participate!
STEP ONE
Reach out for a complimentary 15-minute consultation which can take place in-person or online. You may send any previous information, such as evaluations or IEP paperwork prior to the meeting.
STEP TWO
If we agree that an evaluation is the next best step, then an evaluation session will be scheduled to determine current communication abilities and support needs:
STEP THREE
After evaluations results are shared, we will partner with you to develop a meaningful plan for therapy. Our weekly therapy sessions will help your child achieve their goals!
